Benefit Allocation Systems takes the security of data very seriously. Toward that end, BAS has security controls in place to protect all client data. One of those controls is that BAS does not accept incoming email messages that contain compressed files, such as files ending with .zip , .exe or .qt.
A compressed file can contain viruses but can also cause malicious software to download onto the computer of the recipient who opens the file. This can result in havoc to the computer system. BAS takes proactive steps to avoid these issues.
An individual who tries to send a message containing a compressed file to a BAS employee, will receive a bounce-back message indicating that the message did not reach the intended recipient. The individual should re-send the message without the compressed file.
