Symantec DLP Used to Protect BAS Systems

BAS takes the privacy and security of its clients' information very seriously. Toward that end, BAS utilizes state of the art security and virus protection software. In addition to the "gold standard" Tripwire, BAS incorporates Symantec Data Loss Prevention Software (DLP) to protect the flow of information.

Symantec DLP is a comprehensive, content-aware product that discovers, monitors and protects confidential data where it is both stored and used- across network, storage and endpoint systems.

In any company, data is constantly being transferred and flowed through many channels of communication, including emails, websites, removable storage, etc. BAS uses Symantec DLP for minoring, tracking and limiting how data is transferred through these channels.

BAS' data policies protect unnecessary information from leaving the BAS network. Different BAS internal departments have access to different sets of confidential data and each department uniquely processes that data. All BAS employees are monitored for their use of PHI, PII, PCI, removable storage, Sarbanes-Oxley and other policies. Based on internal process and procedures, additional security measures and preventatives are enforced to mitigate potential risk. DLP is an internal software used by BAS to protect data from leaving the network. Other security software is used to protect against unwanted access to the BAS network.

BAS has a competing need to protect sensitive data while allowing BAS users limited access to that data. Symantec DLP is one security measure BAS utilizes to monitor data within the network.
