Health Care Reform: Pay-or-Play Penalty

Pay-or-Play

Large employers must provide health coverage that is affordable and meets certain requirements or pay a penalty to the government.  An employer that has 50 or more full-time or full-time equivalent employees could be subject to this "pay-or-play" penalty.  To comply with health care reform, every employer must know if it is an "Applicable Large Employer" that has to offer health coverage to employees and their dependents.

BAS understands health care reform's complex requirements.  As part of our continued commitment to helping you navigate Affordable Care Act compliance, BAS has created an Applicable Large Employer calculator.  The calculator is an easy-to-use tool designed to guide you through the steps required to determine large employer status and provide you with quick answers.

The Large Employer Calculator includes:

  • Applicable Large Employer Calculator Instructions
  • Applicable Large Employer Calculator
  • Seasonal Employee Exemption Worksheet
  • Large Employer Calculator Definitions
  • Large Employer Calculator Q&A
